Creativity is a practice of the whole self. Wherever you are, we’re here to help you nurture and sustain your creative body— and to welcome you into a wider web of creative kinship.
OUR MISSION
Creative Body Institute is a nonprofit arts organization and site-responsive research platform dedicated to embodied creative practice across disciplines—including performance, live art, visual art, creative writing, sound, movement, and ecosomatics. We believe the body is central to all art-making: a site of knowledge, transformation, memory, and imagination.
Our programs include site-specific residencies, intensive courses, certificate programs, one-on-one and group mentoring, workshops, and curated gatherings. We also support artists through exhibitions and publications that share embodied research with broader publics.
Through longstanding partnerships with cultural organizations across the globe, we create opportunities for place-based and cross-cultural exchange—inviting artists to deepen their work by engaging with new terrains, communities, and ways of knowing. Our commitment to translocal collaboration reflects a belief that art is not made in isolation, but in movement and relationship. By working across diverse cultural and ecological contexts, we foster practices that are responsive, accountable, and alive to the complexities of place. Creative Body anchors this work—offering a consistent, intentional space to ground your practice, connect with others, and expand your creative potential through body-centered art, writing, and performance.
Artists who move through our programs become part of an expanding, intergenerational, and international community—a web of creative solidarity that spans disciplines, geographies, and life stages. This living network fosters deep connection, mutual support, and meaningful artistic exchange.
We are committed to nurturing sustainable, socially engaged, and environmentally conscious practices. Guided by curiosity, relationality, and care, we support artists in asking bold questions and developing work that meets the world with integrity and depth.
